Frequently asked questions

Practical questions about referrals, fees, rebates, cancellations, telehealth, and confidentiality.

Getting started

Do I need a referral to see a psychologist?

No, you can book directly. A GP referral and Mental Health Treatment Plan entitles you to Medicare rebates on up to ten sessions per calendar year, so many people choose to see their GP first.

What happens in a first session?

The first session is about understanding what has brought you in, what you are hoping to work on, and whether we are a good fit. There is no pressure to share everything at once, we move at your pace.

How long are sessions?

Standard sessions are 50 minutes. Initial assessments may run slightly longer.

Fees, rebates, and insurance

What are your fees?

Please contact us for current fees. With a valid Mental Health Treatment Plan, Medicare rebates apply. Many private health funds also rebate psychology sessions under extras cover, check with your fund.

Do you bulk bill?

No, we do not bulk bill. Fees are payable on the day of your session, with Medicare rebates processed on the spot where applicable.

Cancellations and telehealth

What is your cancellation policy?

We ask for at least 48 hours' notice for cancellations so the time can be offered to someone else. Late cancellations and missed sessions may incur a fee.

Do you offer telehealth?

Yes. Telehealth sessions are offered via secure video, and are suitable for most presentations. Medicare rebates apply to eligible telehealth sessions with a valid referral.

Confidentiality

Is what I share in sessions confidential?

Yes. The contents of your sessions are confidential, with limited exceptions required by law, for example, where there is a serious and imminent risk to safety. This is explained in detail at your first session.
